Beauty sponges 101

So, I recently saw a post from someone who asked about beauty sponges. In the world of makeup, there are so many sponges to choose from, but it's a matter of how good they are and what you want to use them for.

1) Beauty blender:

The beauty blender is a sponge which costs around 25 euros. It is a small soft sponge, which before using you need to wet it and leave it to grow, this is due to it's features of an open cell structure that fills with small amounts of water when wet. This procedure allows the makeup to sit on top of the sponge instead of being absorbed. This means less product will be used. The beauty blender should be let to air dry until it goes back to it's normal size. It is such an easy tool to use, and for it's price it is totally worth it. The application of your makeup using the sponge looks like as if you have just used an air brush for your face, it looks flawless as the dabbing of the sponge on your skin gets into every part of your skin and does not make your makeup look like it's sitting on top of your face, but rather blended into your face.

2) Real Techniques miracle complexion sponge:

This sponge is quite similar to the beauty blender. It's shape is quite different though. I find that the flat edge of the sponge is really suitable for the forehead and neck area. It is a bigger sponge than the beauty blender but works jut as well. This sponge costs around 8 euros and is a really good deal. I do really recommend having this sponge in your kit if you are looking for something that is really similar to the beauty blender, but cheaper and works just as well.

3)Sponges:

I don't even know what to call these sponges, before buying my beauty blender I had bought two of these off of eBay and when they arrived I was so happy because I thought that they will work just like the beauty blender. Oh boy was I wrong though ! These type of sponges have a really hard sponge, and when using on the face they are really harsh because of it's hard texture. When wetting these sponges they also don't grow, which means that when you apply makeup the makeup just absorbs itself into the sponges so more makeup will have to be used. I do use these sponges for SFX makeup though so you can still get some use out of these. The prices of these vary but they cost no more than 2-3 euros.

4) Flat sponges and triangular shaped sponges:

Basically, these sponges are the same as the previous sponge mentioned. They work just the same and all there is to know is already written in the 3rd point. The prices of these vary according but they cost no more than 3 euros.

So, it all depends on what you want to use the sponge for and how you want your makeup to look. Defiantly I recommend purchasing both the beauty blender and the real techniques miracle complexion sponge because they are the greatest tools anyone could have in their kit. Honestly, when buying these you will put away all of your face brushes and just forget about them. They are literally that life changing !

I hope this post has helped you out a bit about these type of sponges, and if anyone has any questions or concerns please don't hesitate to ask or comment my beauties :)

xoxo
